Blackpink is a South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment, debuting in August 2016 with members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. Their early hits "Whistle", "Boombayah", and "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" propelled them into one of the biggest acts in K-pop, with The Album (2020) becoming the first million-selling album by a female act in South Korea and Born Pink (2022) topping the Billboard 200 and the UK Albums Chart. Their Born Pink World Tour set records as the highest-grossing tour by a female group, and in 2023 they became the first Asian act to headline Coachella. With over 40 billion streams and 20 million records sold worldwide, they are recognised among the best-selling girl groups of all time and were invested as honorary MBEs in 2023 for their climate-change advocacy.
