The Weeknd (born Abel Tesfaye, February 16, 1990) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, producer and actor known for his alternative R&B sound, falsetto and dark, cinematic visuals. He emerged anonymously in 2011 with the mixtape trilogy House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence, and broke through with the chart-topping albums Beauty Behind the Madness (2015) and Starboy (2016). His 2020 album After Hours produced "Blinding Lights", the best-performing song in Billboard Hot 100 history and the most-streamed song on Spotify, and his After Hours til Dawn Tour became the highest-grossing tour by a male soloist. With four Grammy Awards and over 75 million records sold, he is one of the most successful artists of his generation.
