Bruce Springsteen (born September 23, 1949) is an American singer, songwriter and musician nicknamed "the Boss", who has released 21 studio albums over six decades, mostly with his backing E Street Band since 1972. After breaking through with Born to Run (1975), he reached his commercial peak with Born in the U.S.A. (1984), one of the best-selling albums of all time. He has sold more than 140 million records worldwide and earned 20 Grammy Awards, two Golden Globes, an Academy Award, a Special Tony, the Kennedy Center Honors and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Rolling Stone has placed him among the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
