The Foo Fighters are an American rock band formed in Seattle in 1994 by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl as a one-man project, with Grohl recording their 1995 self-titled debut almost entirely alone. The lineup grew to include bassist Nate Mendel, guitarists Pat Smear and Chris Shiflett, and keyboardist Rami Jaffee, with drummer Taylor Hawkins, who joined in 1997, performing with the band until his death in 2022. Their albums The Colour and the Shape (1997), Wasting Light (2011), Concrete and Gold (2017) and But Here We Are (2023) cemented them as one of rock's biggest acts. They are multi-Grammy winners and have continued touring with Josh Freese and later Ilan Rubin on drums.
